We Offer Lessons In Many Styles Of Dance

Dance is a wonderfully artistic outlet for expression that not only utilizes creativity, exercise, and talent but also teaches discipline. All our instructors feel strongly about the role of dance in building character and self-esteem and strive to provide a positive and productive learning environment.

Jazz
Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique and progressions including turns, kicks and leaps. In a jazz class the dancers also learn many fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. It is a wonderful class to get a well rounded variety of all dance steps.
Tap
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.  Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. Classes begin at the barre where students perform movement sequences to develop strength, coordination, balance and proper alignment. These skills are reinforced through center and across the floor combinations. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught. Pointe shoes are introduced to students who are ready, at the discretion of the instructor.

Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a style that combines ballet and jazz dancing techniques. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it inspires expression of strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics of the song. This style concentrates on an individual approach and expressiveness of such emotions as love, joy, hurt, or anger.
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Modern
Modern dance is a dance style that focuses on a dancer’s own interpretations instead of structured stepsModern dancers reject the limitations of classical ballet and favor movements derived from the expression of their inner feelings.

Tumbling
This class focuses on providing dancers with the skills necessary to become good tumblers. Students will spend time working on strength and basic tumbling such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, walk overs, handsprings and tucks.

Dancer of The Month

Annmarie Luther is 11 years old and has enjoyed dance or gymnastics since she was 3. She is enjoying her first year on the Dance Dimensions competition team.

Prior to joining the DD team, Annmarie was very passionate to ballet and gymnastics. She has performed in the Albany Berkshire Nutcracker. The Moscow Ballet Nutcracker, and danced with the Ajkun Ballet in Mid Summer Nights Dream and Giselle. She then devoted time to gymnastics and realized her true passion was dance.

Now that Annmarie is involved in competition dance, her favorite style of dance is lyrical. She is a very special young lady, who is hard working and excelling in her classes.

Outside of dance, Annmarie loves science and her favorite color is lavender.

Congratulations Annmarie! Your teachers here at DD are proud of you! We love having you in class. Keep up the great work!
